Fourth Grade is...

  • Learning about North Carolina History including a trip to the Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee, NC.
  • Writing everything in cursive.
  • Learning about living and non-living things that affect animals' lives; studying the different types of rocks and how they are used; and figuring out what makes machines work.
  • Building on math skills from earlier years and adding new things such as "lonnnnngggg" division with 2-digit divisors; prime and composite numbers; dividing things into sections up to twelfths.
  • Preparing for the state writing test; Accelerated Reading Program (ARP); and building comprehension skills.
  • Developing responsibilities necessary to make it in Middle School

But most of all, Fourth Grade is FUN!
